How to Cook a Perfect Burger
Ingredients:
- Ground beef (80% lean/20% fat)
- Salt and pepper
- Burger buns
- Toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, etc.)
- Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.)
Instructions:
- Prep Patties:
- Divide the ground beef into equal portions (about 4-6 ounces each).
- Gently shape each portion into a round patty, about ¾ inch thick. Avoid over-handling to keep the texture tender.
- Press a small dimple in the center of each patty to prevent puffing up during cooking.
- Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Preheat Cooking Surface:
Heat a grill, grill pan, or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a frying pan, you can add a little oil to prevent sticking.
- Cook the Burgers:
- Place the patties on the hot grill or pan.
- Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until they are seared and have grill marks.
- Flip the burgers and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. If adding cheese, do so in the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.
- Toast the Buns:
Cut the buns in half and place them cut side down on the grill or skillet for about 1 minute until they are lightly toasted.
- Assemble the Burgers:
- Place a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun.
- Add your desired toppings and condiments.
- Cover with the top half of the bun.
- Serve Immediately:
Serve your burgers hot with sides such as fries, salad, or your favorite snack.
