How to Cook a Perfect Burger

Ingredients:

  • Ground beef (80% lean/20% fat)
  • Salt and pepper
  • Burger buns
  • Toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, etc.)
  • Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Prep Patties:
    • Divide the ground beef into equal portions (about 4-6 ounces each).
    • Gently shape each portion into a round patty, about ¾ inch thick. Avoid over-handling to keep the texture tender.
    • Press a small dimple in the center of each patty to prevent puffing up during cooking.
    • Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Preheat Cooking Surface:

Heat a grill, grill pan, or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a frying pan, you can add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  3. Cook the Burgers:
    • Place the patties on the hot grill or pan.
    • Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until they are seared and have grill marks.
    • Flip the burgers and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. If adding cheese, do so in the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.
  4. Toast the Buns:

Cut the buns in half and place them cut side down on the grill or skillet for about 1 minute until they are lightly toasted.

  5. Assemble the Burgers:
    • Place a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun.
    • Add your desired toppings and condiments.
    • Cover with the top half of the bun.
  6. Serve Immediately:

Serve your burgers hot with sides such as fries, salad, or your favorite snack.
